To start off the 2012 season the Crusaders went through their NCAA meetings and Sports Medicine talks on Friday just like every other student-athlete in the NCAA. But, after that we decided the best way to spend our first day getting to know each other was through the Amazing Race.... through Bexley!
Our team was divided into eight teams of four girls each. Then, they were given a clue where they could find the first folder and their first five assignments. At each stop they were given tasks to visit sites all around the Bexley and Capital area and take pictures with their group. After five tasks they got their next clue where to find the next set of race tasks. Then, the first group to complete their tasks and get all their pictures in to the coaching staff won the Capital Amazing Race. Due to NCAA rules we could not give out prizes like the real TV Show, however, the winning team of Kate Connell, Rachael WIntering, Megan Tolnar and Kelsey Kaiser does get to choose the location of our meal on our first away trip... and food is a big deal to this team!
The sights the girls will show you below include: The Bexley/Columbus Fire House, The Governor's Mansion, The Capital University Martin Luther Statue, A picture of the 1929 Capital Football team at Graeters Ice Cream, The Ohio map on the playground of Montrose Elementary, Johnson's Ice Cream, a Capital Police Officer, Roll bike shop, The Capital University piece of the Berlin Wall, the Bexley Pool, a Bexley City Hall employee, Capital Men';s Soccer Coach Alan Yost, Jeni's Ice Cream and the Reflection bench at the Capital Fountains.
We hope you will enjoy the pictures below from the amazing race and check back often to keep up with the Crusaders as we go through preseason and defend our 2011 OAC Championship!
