Capital Welcomes newest coaching staff member

Coming off a record setting 2011 season the Capital University Women's Soccer coaching staff just got a bit stronger as they start working for a repeat performance in 2012.  This week we added Jeremiah Gallegos to our staff and his experience is going to be a tremendous asset to the program.

Jeremiah, who is from Dana Point, California, played his collegiate soccer at the University of Cincinnati.  He was the Bearcats Freshman of the Year in 2001 and the Team MVP in 2003 & 2004.  In 2005 Jeremiah was selected for the MLS Super Draft where he was chosen by the L.A. Galaxy.  Following his playing career with the Galaxy he began coaching with the Mill Valley Soccer Club in 2007.  In 2010 Gallegos was an assistant coach for the College of Marin in Marin, California and he also was a camp coach for the University of California at Berkeley.

According to Coach Kouns "I know that Jeremiah is going to be a great addition to the staff.  He comes to us with glowing reviews from his previous coaches and I know that the players will certainly benefit from working with him in the coming year."

Crusaders start off 2011 with a "W"

Playing the first regular season game, of any sport, on the new turf of Bernlohr Stadium the Capital Women's Soccer program blanked Ohio Wesleyan by a score of 4-0 on Thursday afternoon and opened their account in 2011 with a 1-0-0 record.

It was a total team effort with the entire roster making an appearance on a hot afternoon in Columbus, but, for the Purple and White the heat was really coming from their offense.  In the first half Natalie Fiorelli opened up the scoring with a great finish ten minutes into the match.  Late in the half Bre Daly doubled the lead when she put away a great rebound effort off Kate Connell's shot off the post.

In the second half the offense continued to roll with Briana Walcutt picking up two goals in her first collegiate soccer game to put the final score at 4-0.  For the game Capital out shot OWU 16-2 and the Crusader defense notched their first shut out of the year!

Next up will be a weekend duo of Denison, who made the NCAA Tournament last year and Kenyon, both on the road!

Welcome to the coaching staff Dre and Chris!

There will be two more additions to the Capital sideline this fall and we are thrilled to have them on board! Andrea "Dre" Kaminski and Chris Bohach have both agreed to aid the Crusaders in their hunt for yet another OAC title and NCAA Tournament appearance in 2011.

"Dre" will join the staff working primarily with the Goalkeepers.  "We are very fortunate to have a dedicated coach to work with our goalkeepers... Dre played for me at Cincinnati and has a ton of experience as a player in the Big East at the NCAA Division I level and as a coach with Soccer Plus Goalkeeping Schools" said Chris Kouns.

Chris is coming on board to work with the entire team as well as coach the reserve team games this fall.  "I had the opportunity to watch Chris coach for two weeks when I instructed his National D License course and was very impressed.  Although he is currently coaching with the NCAA Division I Marshall University men's soccer program he has a tremendous demeanor and communication style to help female student-athletes maximize their potential" said Kouns.

Along with Dre and Chris there will most likely be one more assistant added to the coaching staff prior to the fall... which will offer the players four different personalities and communication styles to help them unlock their potential!
